Being surrounded by turquoise water, I wanted the viewer to feel the same way I did. I loaded the Linhof with a roll of film, four shots, that was all I had. I walked out, up to my chest in the balmy water and set up looking back at the cay. The rising tide was lapping my camera as I fired off the four shots, one wry wave and I would've been screwed. The perspective felt so right as the Pacific Ocean swirled around me. You can feel it in the shot, the magic, tranquility, romance, it's a special place. Love it.]]> Sun, 27 Mar 2011 01:41:42 GMT http://www.pbeckermann.com/index.php/viewvideo/17/peter-lik/imagine.html <![CDATA[Peter Lik | Master Photographer | TWC 3]]> The Weather Channel is introducing a new member of the team, master landscape photographer, Peter Lik.]]> Sun, 27 Mar 2011 01:41:41 GMT http://www.pbeckermann.com/index.php/viewvideo/16/peter-lik/peter-lik-master-photographer-twc-3.html <![CDATA[Peter Lik | Master Photographer | TWC 4]]> The Weather Channel is introducing a new member of the team, Master Photographer, Peter Lik.]]> Sun, 27 Mar 2011 01:41:40 GMT http://www.pbeckermann.com/index.php/viewvideo/15/peter-lik/peter-lik-master-photographer-twc-4.html <![CDATA[Peter Lik | Master Photographer | Red Rock Canyon]]> The Weather Channel meets up with Master Photographer Peter Lik in Red Rock Canyon, Nevada to see just how the desert's extreme weather can make or break the shot.]]> Sun, 27 Mar 2011 01:40:23 GMT http://www.pbeckermann.com/index.php/viewvideo/14/peter-lik/peter-lik-master-photographer-red-rock-canyon.html <![CDATA[death valley badwater photography tips for early morning shooting]]> photography lesson at Badwater in Death Valley. He is often described as the most important landscape photographer alive a distinction the artist sidesteps earnestly, detached from such conventions. For Lik, there was never a choice in the matter from a very young age, photography found him. His innate talent brought him to places that few humans have seen, documenting the rugged outback of his native Australia, while establishing his early bond with Mother Nature-the only place he truly finds peace. Lik soon received accolades for his vast panoramic landscape photographs, which captured the brilliant colors and elegant, spiritual terrain in nature. These works of art would ultimately earn him the highest award, given to him by his peers-the Master of Photography. His myriad successes in Australia propelled him into broader horizons and brought him to the Americas. Having visited exotic locations all over the globe, seeing the United States for the first time changed him indelibly. Sometimes it takes a foreigner to recognize the sheer, singular beauty of what nature has bestowed. Lik is driven by an extraordinary passion that few men possess-at its core is lack of time, a finite number of sun rises and sunsets. His mantra: one shot. He lives it every day of his life. His quest for the perfect shot is unending. He travels the globe, driven by a vigorous determination to capture the beauty that he sees and his profound respect for nature. And, as Mother Nature herself-he's still unpredictable. In 1997 Lik entered the competitive world of publishing with a focus on fine art photography-and Lik Publishing was born. His first large format book "Australia-Images of a Timeless Land" is a stunning showcase of Lik's most emotive images. Lik has since gone on to publish three additional coffee table books, along with his prized 25th Anniversary "Big Book" which features amazing photography from the farthest reaches of the globe. These books have collectively reached over one million sold, worldwide. Peter Lik has been honored with the premier Australian photo book award, "The Canon AIPP Book of the Year" for his striking landscape photography in his "25 Year Anniversary Book."
